Author Guidelines

Authors should submit their contributions electronically through the Journal website submission system to the Editorial Office:

• Manuscript submission must be applied once in order to obtain only one submission ID number. More than one submission for a single manuscript can lose the chance of manuscript consideration.
• Authors should submit the manuscript as a single-word file for the refereeing process.

 

Ethics in Publishing

The ethical policy of Future Energy (FUEN) Journal is liable to determine which of the typical research papers or articles submitted to the journal should be published in the concerned issue. The publishing decision is based on the suggestion of the journal's reviewers and editorial board members. The ethical policy insisted that the editor-in-chief may confer with other editors or reviewers to make the decision. The reviewers must evaluate the research papers based on the submitted content in a confidential manner. The reviewers also suggest the authors improve the quality of the research paper through their reviewing comments.  Authors should ensure that their submitted research work is original and has not been published elsewhere in any language. Applicable copyright laws and conventions should be followed by the authors. Any kind of plagiarism constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. Title Page

The title page should include:
- The name(s) of the author(s)
- A concise and informative title
- The affiliation(s) and address(es) of the author(s)
- The e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers of the corresponding author. 

Highlights

Highlights are mandatory for the FUEN journal. A highlight is a concise, short phrase, conveying the core findings of your research. Please use 'Highlights' in the file name and include 3 to 5 items. The approximate length of each highlighted item may be within two lines.

All manuscripts submitted to the Future Energy (FUEN) Journal should conform to the following guidelines:

• Please prepare your article by using Microsoft Word. The preferred file format is DOC or DOCX.
• The language of the journal is English. British or American English may be used, but consistency must be maintained in the manuscript. Manuscripts should be written according to sound grammar and proper terminology. 
• The manuscript should include a title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Analysis (state) of the Problems, Material and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, and References.
• The minimum length of a manuscript is 20,000 characters with spaces (Title, List of Authors, Footnotes, Abstract, Keywords, and References are not considered as a part of a manuscript regarding its length). The Editorial Board reserves the right to publish more extensive manuscripts.
• The abstract should be a maximum of 400 words and contain a concise description of the manuscript's contents and main results.
• A list of up to six keywords or key expressions should be provided.
• The Introduction should state the purpose of the investigation and clearly identify the gap of knowledge that will be filled in the Literature review study. The introduction should have 2-3 paragraphs, dependent on the type or category of information delivered, as well as the study's motivation and objectives.  Provide the relevant background information in the introduction chapter to place the author's contribution into context.
• The problem statement must be clearly mentioned in the manuscript.
• The Materials and Methods section should provide enough information to permit repetition of the experimental work. It should include clear descriptions and explanations of sampling procedures, experimental design, and essential sample characteristics and descriptive statistics, hypothesis tested, exact references to literature describing the tests used in the manuscript, number of data involved in statistical tests, etc.  For materials, include the exact technical specifications and quantities as well as source or methods of preparation. For methods, the most common presenting order is chorological. This part must be concise while still being informative. This section includes subheadings for each category, method, or procedure employed, as well as study regions, analysis, and so on. This part should be written in the past tense with a passive voice and should not contain any study findings.
• The Results and Discussion section should describe the outcome and interpretation of the study. Data should be presented as concisely as possible - if appropriate, in the form of tables or figures, although very large tables should be avoided. The Discussion should be an interpretation of the results and their significance with reference to work by other authors. Please note that the journal's policy with respect to units and symbols is that of SI symbols.  Tables and figures should be used to present the research findings. Each collection of tables and statistics should be discussed in a separate paragraph, with the overall trends and data points of particular importance emphasized. 
• Figures and tables should be numbered and accompanied by an appropriate reference source. They should be inserted directly into the appropriate place in the text. A reference to each figure and table should be included in the text. Figures must be of high quality, and their resolution should be at least 300 dpi.
• Mathematical equations within the text should be written in separate lines, numbered consecutively (numbers within round brackets) on the right-hand side. Greek characters must be written using a non-cursive font, while variables must be in italics. Please use either the Microsoft Equation Editor or the MathType add-on in your manuscript to insert equations and/or corresponding symbols into the text. Equations should be editable by the editorial office and not appear in a picture format.
• International System of Units (SI) should be used.
• Abbreviations should be defined the first time they appear in the text.
• The introduction to the work, followed by a concise description of the results found, and the discussion’s points are the most crucial elements of the conclusion chapter.  The conclusion chapter further includes the research's uniqueness, limitations, and recommendations for future research. Finally, the authors should convey the highlight in its entirety, with no references to literature.  The concluding chapter should be at least half a page long, both scientifically and in terms of content.
• References should cover state-of-the-art and important previous works in the given area of interest internationally. Reference should be prepared as in the template.
• References to literature within the text should be given in square brackets [ ], and placed before the punctuation, for example [1], [1-3] or [1,3].
• A list of references should be prepared in the order in which the articles appear in the text.
• The references list must be provided in a consistent style according to the FUEN references format; where applicable, the author(s) name(s), year of publication, journal abbreviated title/ book title, chapter title/article title, volume and issue numbers/ book chapter, and pagination must be present. Provide links or DOIs under each reference in the references list.
• Each article in the reference list must be cited in the text and vice versa.
• Authors are required to prepare manuscripts employing the template developed by FUEN.
• During the submission process, authors are encouraged to provide names of (maximum) three potential reviewers who are experts in the article's subject area. Please provide detailed contact information (name and email address). Suggested reviewers should not be current collaborators of the authors' submitted article or have published with them. They should be from institutions other than the authors. The Editorial Board has the sole right to decide whether or not the suggested reviewers are selected. Providing the proposed reviewers is possible while submitting the "Comments for the Editor" box.

Acknowledgments

Acknowledgments of people, grants, funds with official number, etc. should be written in full, and the statement should follow the funding institution's criteria.  Financial support affiliation of the study, if exists, must be mentioned in this section. Thereby, the Grant number of financial support must be included. 

Conflict of Interest

Conflict of Interest is defined as a set of conditions in which professional judgment concerning a primary interest, such as the validity of research, may be influenced by a secondary interest, such as financial gain. A Conflict of Interest Disclosure is an agreement or notification from the authors that they have not been paid for the work, or if they have, stating the source of their payment. The purpose of the Conflict of Interest Disclosure is to provide readers of authors’ manuscripts with information about authors’ interests that could influence how the authors receive the work. A conflict of interest statement must be placed in the manuscript as: "The authors declare no potential conflict of interest regarding the publication of this work. In addition, the ethical issues including plagiarism, informed consent, misconduct, data fabrication and, or falsification, double publication and, or submission, and redundancy have been completely witnessed by the authors”.

Reproducing Published Material from other Publishers

It is absolutely essential that authors obtain permission to reproduce any published material (figures, schemes, tables or any extract of a text) which does not fall into the public domain, or for which they do not hold the copyright. Permission should be requested by the authors from the copyright holder (usually the Publisher, please refer to the imprint of the individual publications to identify the copyright holder).

Permission is required for:

• Your own works published by other Publishers and for which you did not retain copyright.
• Substantial extracts from anyone's works or a series of works.
• Use of Tables, Graphs, Charts, Schemes and Artworks if they are unaltered or slightly modified.
• Photographs for which you do not hold copyright.

Permission is not required for:

• Reconstruction of your own table with data already published elsewhere. Please notice that in this case you must cite the source of the data in the form of either "Data from..." or "Adapted from...".
• Reasonably short quotes are considered fair use and therefore do not require permission.
• Graphs, Charts, Schemes and Artworks that are completely redrawn by the authors and significantly changed beyond recognition do not require permission.

In order to avoid unnecessary delays in the publication process, you should start obtaining permissions as early as possible. If in any doubt about the copyright, apply for permission. Future Energy Journal cannot publish material from other publications without permission.

Manuscript Submission and Declaration

While submitting a manuscript to FUEN, all contributing author(s) must verify that the manuscript represents authentic and valid work and that neither this manuscript nor one with significantly similar content under their authorship has been published or is being considered for publication elsewhere, including electronically in the same form, in English or other languages, without the written consent the copyright holder. All authors have agreed to allow the corresponding author to serve as the primary correspondent with the editorial office, to review the edited manuscript and proof. All contributing authors must complete and submit an Authorship Statement Form once submitting a manuscript to the FUEN Journal. 

Covering Letter

The cover letter contains the title of the manuscript, the corresponding author and other author details, an area of study, and the type of manuscript, along with 3 referees to review the manuscript.  Further, the corresponding author should declare that the prepared manuscript follows the Future Energy Journal Guide for Authors.  

Copyright

The FUEN is made available to the public under the open access policy. The accepted submissions are free to read, reuse, download, copy, distribute, and share as long as the author(s) of the manuscript are credited.  FUEN will ask all authors of the acceptance article to sign a Copyright Agreement Form to grant the necessary publishing rights once the manuscript has been accepted. The accepted manuscript is moved into production after the copyright agreement form from the relevant author of the manuscript is received. Because the author(s) publish their manuscript as open access, the author(s) retain(s) certain rights such as patents, trademarks, and designs. The conditions of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License are incorporated into the author(s) contract, dictating what others can do with the author(s) manuscript after it is published. Furthermore, after being properly attributed, the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License allows for unrestricted use, distribution, modification, and reproduction in any medium.

Errors in Published Papers

When an author(s) discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher to retract or correct the manuscript.  Finally, the corresponding author should be ensured that all appropriate co-authors included in the paper have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Research Article

The manuscript should contain an abstract, a brief introduction, details of experimental procedures in sufficient detail to allow replication of the experiment, results, either tabular or graphical, conclusions, and references.

Review

A full-length review provides a summary and discussion of the relevant literature about any topic covered within the aims and scope of the journal. Review articles provide accessible, authoritative and balanced overviews of a field or topic. By organizing, integrating, and evaluating previously published material, the author of a review article considers the progress of current research toward clarifying a problem. In a sense, a review article is a tutorial in that the author defines and clarifies the problem; summarizes previous investigations to inform the reader of the state of current research; identifies relations, contradictions, gaps, and inconsistencies in the literature; and suggests the next step or steps in solving the problem.

Perspective

The aim of publishing a Perspective article is to present useful and novel preliminary results of interest to a wide, interdisciplinary audience. The manuscript should contain an abstract, a brief introduction, details of experimental procedures in sufficient detail to allow replication of the experiment, results, either tabular or graphical, conclusions, and references. 

News & Views

These articles, reported by the Editorial (or authors invited by the Editorial), inform our readers about new scientific advances reported in recently published papers (in Future Journals and elsewhere). 

AFTER ACCEPTANCE

Use of the Digital Object Identifier

The Digital Object Identifier (DOI) may be used to cite and link to electronic documents. The DOI consists of a unique alpha-numeric character string which is assigned to a document by the publisher upon the initial electronic publication. The assigned DOI never changes.

Proof Correction

Corresponding authors will receive an e-mail with a proofing manuscript, allowing annotation and correction of proofs. You can also comment on figures/tables and answer questions from the Copy Editor.  Use this proof only for checking the typesetting, editing, completeness and correctness of the text, tables and figures. Significant changes to the article as accepted for publication will only be considered at this stage with permission from the Editor-in-Chief. It is important to ensure that all corrections are sent back to us in one communication. Please check carefully before replying, as the inclusion of any subsequent corrections cannot be guaranteed. Proofreading is solely the corresponding author's responsibility. 

Offprints

The offprints can be downloaded from the FUEN website once the final corrected manuscripts are disseminated.
