The US hydrogen fuel industry today and future

Abstract
In December 2021, the US Department of Energy (DoE) unveiled the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations with $21.5bn in federal funding to deploy the advanced green technologies. The most significant portion of the budget, $9.5bn, has been dedicated to renewable hydrogen to commercialize innovative technologies and establish four regional hubs and a recycling and manufacturing program. Green hydrogen is already the focus of the DoE's energy initiatives, which aims to mitigate the cost of renewable hydrogen production by 80% over the next decade.

Author Biography
Dr. Hosseini is an Asst. Professor and Graduate Program Director in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Arkansas Tech University (ATU). He established Combustion and Sustainable Energy Laboratory (ComSEL) at ATU working on various energy and combustion-related projects. Before joining Arkansas Tech University, Dr. Hosseini was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Combustion and Solar Energy Laboratory with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at San Diego State University working on a hybrid solar thermal energy generation system funded by the Department of Energy (DOE).
